A forced-gradient experiment on solute transport in the Borden aquifer. 1. Experimental methods and moment analyses of results

, : A forced-gradient experiment on solute transport in the Borden aquifer. 1. Experimental methods and moment analyses of results. Water Resources Research 30(2): 369-383

A forced-gradient two-well test of solute transport was conducted adjacent to a natural gradient test in an unconfined sandy aquifer in California, USA. In the forced-gradient test, 1 inorganic (iodine) and 4 organic solutes (carbon tetrachloride, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene and hexachloroethane) were injected for 48 hours. Chemical migration toward the extraction well was monitored by multilevel samplers and a partially penetrating monitoring well.

The effect of copper (CuCl2 .cntdot. 2H2O) on growth, heterocyst frequency, acetylene reduction, H2 production and photosynthetic O2 evolution of Nostoc linckia was studied. Whereas copper inhibited growth and other physiological processes, it inc...

A novel pH-switchable macroscopic assembly is reported using alginate-based hydrogels functionalized with host (α-cyclodextrin, αCD) and guest (diethylenetriamine, DETA) moieties. Since the interaction of αCD and DETA is pH sensitive, the host...

A comparative study of reaction conditions was performed for the synthesis of a 2-O-monobenzyl ether of cyclomaltoheptaose (beta-CD). Optimal conditions involved sodium ethoxide in Me,SO and benzyl bromide. The methodology was extended to the prep...
