An overview of technology transfer and its impact on finger millet production in Karnataka

, : An overview of technology transfer and its impact on finger millet production in Karnataka. Advances in small millets: 501-518

The productivity of finger millet in Karnataka state, India, has increased by 54% from 713 kg/ha in 1969/70 to 1101 kg/ha in 1987/88. The increase in productivity has been achieved through adoption of improved production technologies. Nevertheless, there is still a wide gap in productivity that can be, and needs to be narrowed. Yield levels of around 2500 kg/ha have been demonstrated under rainfed conditions in farmers' holdings, suggesting that there is ample scope to increase productivity.
