Anti-mycotic action of the antibiotics A-159 and A-418 against soil fungi causing damage to planting stock

, : Anti-mycotic action of the antibiotics A-159 and A-418 against soil fungi causing damage to planting stock. Gorsko Stopanstvo 45(8): 20-23

A-159 (a new polyene antibiotic, tetraene) and A-418 (streptomycin) were tested in the greenhouse and in the nursery against fungi causing damping off. Seeds of Pinus sylvestris were treated with the two antibiotics (as aqueous solutions or as dry substances) at various concentrations, and the occurrence of damping off was determined. Both antibiotics proved very effective. In the greenhouse, A-159 was most effective at a concentration of 300 E/ml, and A-418 at 700 E/ml.
