Circovirus infection in European racing pigeons

, : Circovirus infection in European racing pigeons. Veterinary Record 136(7): 173-174

In July 1994, 2 pigeons from a racing loft of 65 pigeons in Northern Ireland, UK were presented with a history of scour and poor thrift. PM examination showed a very pale small pale spleen and green coloured semi-fluid faeces in one pigeon (3 months old) and green coloured proventricular contents in a 9-week-old pigeon. Histopathological examination detected lymphoid depletion and moderate lymphocyte depletion and multiple cyst formation in the bursa of Fabricius of the younger bird.
