Effects of surface geometry of maize fields on backscatter of radar band C

, : Effects of surface geometry of maize fields on backscatter of radar band C. Canadian Journal of Remote Sensing 16(3): 16-28

Backscatter resulting from surface geometry at high incidence angles (62-76 degrees ) and several look directions (0, 30, 60 or 90 degrees ) were studied on maize fields in Quebec using 3 C-SAR images of the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing. Depending on sub-surface drainage conditions, the vegetation cover had a greater or lesser effect on the backscatter.
