Effects of the alpha s1-casein polymorphism on dairy performance of goats: a within-sire analysis of Alpine goats

, : Effects of the alpha s1-casein polymorphism on dairy performance of goats: a within-sire analysis of Alpine goats. Genetics, Selection, Evolution 26(2): 151-157

The effects of alleles A, B, C, E and F at the alpha s1-casein locus were studied in 5 sire families. In comparison with F, A and C significantly increased milk protein content in 3 families by 1.8-2.5 g/kg, fat content by 1.1-2.2 g/kg and protein yield by 1.5-2.3 kg.
