Equity considerations in economic and policy analysis

, : Equity considerations in economic and policy analysis. American Journal of Agricultural Economics 76(5): 1022-1033

The current debate about equity in the USA has been profoundly influenced by Rawls's Theory of Justice. Rawls's theory is based on the concept of justice as fairness. Property rights are often seen as contributing to inequalities of wealth in modern society. This paper explores equity issues, with special focus on interactions between efficiency, equity, and the role of information in resource allocation.
