Evomonoside: the cytotoxic cardiac glycoside from Lepidium apetalum

, : Evomonoside: the cytotoxic cardiac glycoside from Lepidium apetalum. Planta Medica 61(3): 294-295

L. apetalum has been used in oriental medicine for the treatment of oedema and cardiac disorders. Evomonoside (digitoxigenin 3-O- alpha -L-rhamnoside) was isolated from L. apetalum seeds, obtained from a drug market in Seoul. The compound exhibited cytotoxic activity against a gastric carcinoma cell line, a colorectal carcinoma cell line and a hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (IC50 values of 0.003, 0.03 and 1.24 micro g/ml, respectively).
