Floating intraperitoneal hydatidosis

, : Floating intraperitoneal hydatidosis. Journal of the Indian Medical Association 92(9): 300-300

The case of a 45-year-old man who presented with a one month history of abdominal distention is reported from India. Ultrasonography confirmed ascites and demonstrated about 10 echogenic rings floating in the fluid. At laparotomy, 15 hydatid cysts were found. One year before presentation the patient recalled an epigastric swelling that vanished following an accident in which he was struck in the abdomen.
