Flower formation and timing field production of vegetables

, : Flower formation and timing field production of vegetables. Acta Horticulturae ( 371): 337-343

Factors affecting flower formation and development in vegetables are discussed. The main ones are vernalization temperature and photoperiod. The vernalization stimulus can be received even before seed maturity on the mother plant or after a specific development stage and some vegetables can be de-vernalized by higher temperatures. The duration of the juvenile phase which precedes sensitivity to the cold stimulus is very dependent on cultivar.

Utility for measuring levels of the cardiovascular drug propranolol was discussed.
