Flowering behaviour in some grasses

, : Flowering behaviour in some grasses. Pratacultural Science 11(3): 42-45

Flowering behaviour studies in grasses showed that in Echinochloa crus-galli, E. crus-galli var. frumentacea another Echinochloa species, Paspalum longifolium, Phalaris tuberosa and another Phalaris species, flower opening began at the apical end and proceeded to the basal end of the spike. In Dactylis glomerata the florets opened first at the middle of the spike and flowering moved in both directions to the ends of the spike.
