Infrared absorption spectra of a highly alkaline soil and its metal derivatives

, : Infrared absorption spectra of a highly alkaline soil and its metal derivatives. Indian Journal of Agricultural Chemistry 26(2/3): 63-69

Infrared (IR) spectra were used to detect and quantify the presence of heavy metals (Hg, Pb, Cd, Cr, Fe, Mn, and Al) in highly alkaline (pH 10.2) soil (Entisol in Uttar Pradesh, India). The IR spectral curves centred at 4, 10, and 13 microns (adsorption maxima for Si-OH, Al-O, and Si-C, resp.) were used to detect the metals.
