Infrared absorption study of the effect of sugarbeet nutrition regulator on sucrose content in the tuberous root

, : Infrared absorption study of the effect of sugarbeet nutrition regulator on sucrose content in the tuberous root. Fenxi Huaxue = Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 23(5): 608

Growing sugarbeet were treated for various periods with 6 nutrition-regulating formulations (mainly bacterial and/or chemical fertilizers); samples from ripe beet were dried, ground and pressed into KBr discs, and infrared absorption between 4000 and 400 cm-1 was measured on a PE-983 spectrophotometer. Peaks characteristic for sucrose were studied: around 940 and 866 cm-1 from the beta -fructose ring, and 911 and 849 cm-1 from the alpha -glucose ring.
