Involvement of free radicals and superoxide dismutase in blue mold resistance of tobacco

, : Involvement of free radicals and superoxide dismutase in blue mold resistance of tobacco. Annales du Tabac Section 2 ( 23): 69-74

The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), an enzyme destroying free radicals, was investigated and concn of free electrons corresponding to the density of free radicals (FR) was determined using the method of electron paramagnetic (spin) resonance on tobacco seedlings of resistant genotype PB D6 and susceptible P 48 artificially inoculated with Peronospora radicina.

Contrary to common assumption, packing eggs into dry (40% relative humidity [RH] cases for 24 hours resulted in only slight transfer of water from eggs to case materials.
