, : Is it possible to preserve advance growth when using harvesters?. Lesnoe Khozyaistvo ( 6): 33-34

Harvesters and forwarders were used to release the Pinus sibirica advance growth beneath the canopy of birch stands 85 years old in the Tomsk region of Siberia. Stand density was 0.7-0.8, and standing volume 170-240 msuperscript 3/ha, with 4000-8000 stems of conifer advance growth from <0.5 to >3 m tall (mainly Pinus sibirica but also Abies sibirica and Picea obovata).
