Oxytetracycline residues in hives treated by two different administration methods

, : Oxytetracycline residues in hives treated by two different administration methods. Apicoltura ( 9): 51-66

A total of 76 colonies in 5 apiaries were treated in autumn or spring with oxytetracycline (OTC) by normal methods; doses were 0.3, 0.75 or 1.5 g OTC in syrup or candy. OTC levels in honey stored in the super, adult bees and larvae were monitored. Three weeks after treatment, OTC levels in honey samples were very low or not detectable. Residues persisted rather longer in the brood nest, but for less than 2 months.
