, : Prognostic parameters in equine colic. Tierarztliche Praxis 22(3): 256-263

In a retrospective study on records of 271 horses referred with colic over a period of 2 years, to examine the prognostic value of different clinical and diagnostic laboratory parameters, by Student's t-test and the Chi-quadrat test, the following quantitative parameters presented a highly significant prognostic value: capillary refill time, pulse rate, heart rate, respiratory rate, haematocrit, haemoglobin concentration, blood lactate, base excess and anion gap.
