Study of the relation between auxin, zeatin and cytoplasmic male sterility in maize

, : Study of the relation between auxin, zeatin and cytoplasmic male sterility in maize. Acta Agronomica Sinica 20(1): 26-32

In a study of alloplasmic lines with the nucleus of Mo17 and 3 different male-sterile cytoplasms, compared with the line having normal cytoplasm, the IAA content in anthers of the male-sterile lines was significantly lower than in the normal line at all stages of microsporogenesis and development but the zeatin contents were markedly higher than in the norm. Application of exogenous growth regulators showed that zeatin could induced microspore and pollen abortion.
