Sub-alpine pasture demonstration plot at Ura

, : Sub-alpine pasture demonstration plot at Ura. Bhutan Journal of Animal Husbandry 14: 1-5

In field experiments at Ura, Bhutan, on a 20% S.-facing slope at 3700 m a.s.l. in 1985-90, native grassland which had not been managed as pasture for many decades was oversown with Lolium multiflorum, Trifolium repens, T. pratense, Festuca arundinacea and Dactylis glomerata. The grassland was lightly cultivated or left uncultivated, and given varying rates of single superphosphate. Cultivation alone did not increase the DM yields of forage in these high altitudes.
