The diversity of plant genetic resources: an economic perspective

, : The diversity of plant genetic resources: an economic perspective. TDRI Quarterly Review 10(1): 12-17

This paper looks at the diversity of plant genetic resources (wild and domesticated species), as this area is surrounded by a great deal of international controversy, particularly over who has control of them. In the case of wild species, the interest is in maintaining diversity at species level, while for domesticated species, the concern is with maintaining the diversity of the cultivars. Demand and supply-side considerations are highlighted.
