The method of interpreting burns on satellite photos

, : The method of interpreting burns on satellite photos. Lesovedenie ( 6): 34-43

A method is proposed for the automated interpretation of old burns on satellite photos. The method is based on identifying the areas by the aid of discriminating vectors, viz. tone (colour) of image, structure of burn contour, and nature of burn boundary. These are determined on reference areas of known silvicultural characters and history.
