The physiology of germination in the seeds of some crop plants and in weed species in the same genera

, : The physiology of germination in the seeds of some crop plants and in weed species in the same genera. Lucrari Stiintifice Universitatea de Stiinte Agronomice Bucuresti Seria A, Agronomie 36: 23-31

Morphological and physiological aspects of seed germination were studied in oats, Sinapis alba and Lathyrus sativus and in the weeds Avena fatua, S. arvensis and L. tuberosus. Seed size and 1000-seed weight and germination energy and rate were higher in the crop than in the weeds. Germination rates were around 100% in the crops and 70, 80-60 and 80-50%, respectively, in the weeds.
