The value of pig selection experiments

, : The value of pig selection experiments. Proceedings, 5th World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, 7-12 August 1994 Volume 19 Selection and quantitative genetics; growth; reproduction; lactation; fish; fiber; meat: 41-48

A review. With the exception of a few studies where selection has been done for several criteria, most studies have involved selection on 1 trait. Selection for several traits enables different selection strategies to be compared. Most of the experimental results have been limited to quantifying correlated responses, and not for estimation of genetic parameters, which is possible with recent developments in multivariate mixed model methodologies.
