A one-hit model for the infection of clubroot-susceptible cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) by (Plasmodiophora brassicae) at various inoculum densities

, : A one-hit model for the infection of clubroot-susceptible cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) by (Plasmodiophora brassicae) at various inoculum densities. European Journal of Plant Pathology 102(2): 109-114

In 2 glasshouse and 3 phytotron experiments, clubroot-susceptible cabbage Septa was inoculated with P. brassicae resting spores at inoculum densities ranging from 0 to 2x107 spores/plant. At densities of 105 spores/plant and higher all plants developed clubroot symptoms, except in 1 glasshouse experiment conducted in winter. The proportion of plants developing symptoms plotted against inoculum density showed a sigmoid curve.
