A preliminary study on remote sensing detection of damage by the pine caterpillar

, : A preliminary study on remote sensing detection of damage by the pine caterpillar. Scientia Silvae Sinicae 31(4): 379-384

The potential and feasibility was investigated of measuring, mapping and monitoring forest damage caused by the pinecaterpillar (Dendrolimus punctatus) using Landsat thematic mapper (TM) data. Composite images using the TM5/TM4, TM4/TM3 band ratios with the TM2 band were rich in vegetation and forest damage information.
