A quantitative analysis of the effect of log quality on log price

, : A quantitative analysis of the effect of log quality on log price. Research Bulletin of the Tottori University Forests ( 24): 79-95

Prices of Japanese pine and Japanese cedar logs at three local markets in Yamaguchi Prefecture, western Japan, were analysed. Nine factors - price, and 8 log characteristics - were recorded for each stacking log. Log price was set as a dependent variable; the other 8 factors as independent variables. These variables were used to classify logs into 29 categories. For Japanese pine, 66% of deviation in log price was statistically explained by the 8 factors.
