Antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi in serum and in the eye in horses and occurrence of equine recurrent uveitis (ERU)

, : Antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi in serum and in the eye in horses and occurrence of equine recurrent uveitis (ERU). Berliner und Munchener Tierarztliche Wochenschrift 109(8): 273-278

The antibody titre against B. burgdorferi was determined by immunofluorescence test in 153 healthy horses and in 79 horses with ERU. 48% of all horses were positive (titre 1:64 or higher). In addition 22 sera were tested in western-blot for antibody titres. There was no significant correlation between signs of ERU and increased antibody titres against B. burgdorferi. No clinical signs were seen in horses with elevated titres.
