Effect of levels and phased application of potassium on leaf potassium, yield and quality of tobacco grown in NLS

, : Effect of levels and phased application of potassium on leaf potassium, yield and quality of tobacco grown in NLS. Tobacco Research 21(1/2): 40-43

In field trials in 1990-93 at Jeelugumilli, Andhra Pradesh, tobacco 16/103 was given 80-400 kg K/ha as potash applied as 40 kg basal and various split applications at 25, 40, 55 or 70 d after sowing. Green and cured leaf yields and leaf reducing sugar and nicotine contents were unaffected by K application rates or application methods. At P, X and L positions leaf K content was higher with 240 kg K than with 80 kg, whereas at position T leaf K was higher with 320 or 400 kg K than 80 kg.
