Effect of levels and placement of phosphorus on moisture use in pigeonpea based intercropping systems under dryland conditions

, : Effect of levels and placement of phosphorus on moisture use in pigeonpea based intercropping systems under dryland conditions. Annals of Agricultural Research 16(3): 289-291

In a field experiment on a sandy loam soil in 1988-89 at New Delhi, pigeonpeas, cowpeas and green gram were grown alone or pigeonpeas were intercropped with cowpeas or green gram. The crops received 0, 40 or 80 kg P2O5/ha which was placed at 7.5 or 15 cm depth. The mean pigeonpea equivalent yield was highest with the pigeonpea/greengram intercrop. The pigeonpea equivalent yield was highest with 80 kg P2O5 (1.39 t/ha) in 1988. P application did not affect yield in 1989.
