In vitro fermentation pattern in buffaloes maintained on UMMB and sani feeding

, : In vitro fermentation pattern in buffaloes maintained on UMMB and sani feeding. Indian Journal of Animal Nutrition 13(4): 244-247

Three fistulated adult male buffaloes, used as donor animals for SRL in a switch-over design, were offered urea-molasses mineral block (UMMB) and wheat straw (T-1), sani of UMMB mixed with wheat straw (T-2) and standard ration consisted of concentrate and wheat straw (T-3), respectively. The IVDMD at 12h was significantly (P lt 0.05) higher in animals fed on diets T-2 and T-3 than that on T-1, but similar values were recorded on diets T-1 and T-2 at 24h. Similar trend was noticed for IVOMD. Both at 12 and 24 h, the level of ammonia concentration was significantly (P lt 0.05) higher on diet T-1 than on T-2 and T-3. TVFA concentration was significantly (P lt 0.05) higher on diet T-3 over T-1. There was no significant difference in protozoa count in different diets. The gas production was significantly (P lt 0.05) higher on diet T-2 followed by T-3 and T-1. Better fermentation was recorded on diet T-2, containing UMMB in the form of Sani.
