Nature of genetic control of embryo and importance of endosperm size in tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius)

, : Nature of genetic control of embryo and importance of endosperm size in tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius). Seed Research 1996; 23(2): 91-97

Progeny from 2 diallel crosses, including reciprocals, of C. olitorius were evaluated for genetic control of embryo weight and the general role of the endosperm in seedling vigour and crop establishment. One cross consisted of 5 inbred lines (Internode mutant, Australia, Crumpled Leaf, Olit Red and JRO524) and the other of 6 inbred lines (JRO524, JRO632, TJ6, Clawed Petal, Russian and Peaking). Maternal and reciprocal effects on endosperm weight were observed.
