Data were obtained from 72 counties (in 11 regions) on a total of 7 193 498 cattle slaughtered during the period 1986-1993. Overall prevalence of bovine cysticercosis was 1.04%. The prevalences in the 11 regions were 0.32% (Pantanal), 0.51% (Aquidauana), 0.36% (Alto Taquari), 0.77% (Campo Grande), 0.86% (Cassilandia), 1.27% (Paranaiba), 0.93% (Tres Lagoas), 2.46% (Nova Andradina), 0.61% (Bodoquena), 1.39% (Dourados) and 1.91% (Iguatemi).
