Seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis in Dakar (Senegal) in 1993: a study carried out in women of child-bearing age

, : Seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis in Dakar (Senegal) in 1993: a study carried out in women of child-bearing age. Cahiers d' Etudes et de Recherches Francophones/Sante 6(2): 102-106

A survey was carried in 1993 in Dakar, Senegal, of 720 women of child-bearing age, 414 of whom were pregnant. The immunofluorescence reaction detected anti-Toxoplasma antibodies in 290 (40.3%) of the women. No significant differences were detected in seroprevalence related to age, parity, district of residence or length of residence in Dakar. The generally low titres and absence of IgM suggested the absence of recent seroconversions.
