Survival and reproduction of Spalangia nigroaenea (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) under light and dark conditions

, : Survival and reproduction of Spalangia nigroaenea (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) under light and dark conditions. Journal of Agricultural Entomology 13(3): 223-225

At 31 degrees C and 50-70% RH and using puparia of Musca domestica as hosts, under conditions of constant light or constant darkness, parasitoid survival was significantly higher in the dark (6.9 days) than in the light (1.9 days) for females of S. nigroaenea. Male survival averaged 6.6 days in the dark and 2.8 days in the light. Survival of both males and females decreased rapidly under lighted conditions, with no parasites alive after 6 days.
