The Philippines: the Aetas of Canawan during wet and dry seasons

, : The Philippines: the Aetas of Canawan during wet and dry seasons. Culture, environment, and food to prevent vitamin A deficiency: 55-69

Aetas children in the Philippines have a high risk of vitamin A deficiency. The history of the Aetas, the climate and geography of Canawan, Morong where they live, and their traditional way of life (agriculture, hunting and gathering, water supplies, health) are outlined. The Aetas eat to survive and will eat whatever is available. They appear to have an adequate intake of vitamin A-rich food, but to be vitamin A deficient in absorption and storage in the body.
