The beet sugar industry in Ukraine

, : The beet sugar industry in Ukraine. Sugar y Azucar 91(10): 36-37

The sugar sector plays a major role in the Ukrainian agricultural economy, contributing 60% of former USSR sugar production. Domestic sugar production is twice that of domestic consumption. In spite of this, productivity within the sector is relatively low, a problem which is currently being addressed. Four areas to be targeted are: introduction of new technology; distribution; price parity; and management.
