The effect of rootstock quality on stenting success of Rosa canina

, : The effect of rootstock quality on stenting success of Rosa canina. Acta Horticulturae ( 424): 29-34

Grafting a leafy scion onto an unrooted piece of an aerial shoot of a rootstock (stenting) avoids infection with soilborne fungal diseases or nematodes. As stenting of roses on selected clones of R. canina Inermis had given variable results, research was undertaken to increase the yield of successful stentlings. Pieces from the lower part of a shoot of the rootstock gave higher rooting percentages than pieces from the upper part of the shoot.
