A study of floral biology and the technological features of seven olive cultivars of different origins

, : A study of floral biology and the technological features of seven olive cultivars of different origins. Acta Horticulturae ( 474): 279-283

Floral biology and fruit physicochemical and morphological characteristics of 7 olive cultivars were recorded in 1995 and 1997 at Valenzano, Bari, Italy. Inflorescence size and the average number of flowers per inflorescence were uniform. Fertility differed greatly between the 2 years of the study and was higher in 1997 for the cultivars Bouteillan, Aglandaou, Nocellara del Belice, Mora and Itrana. Among the 7 cultivars, only Bouteillan was self compatible.
