Cadmium level in bovine milk from different industrial localities of India

, : Cadmium level in bovine milk from different industrial localities of India. Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 67(9): 758-759

Cadmium concentration was determined in milk samples from cows and buffaloes reared around the localities of textile, metallurgical and petrochemical industries. Milk samples from cows and buffaloes in industry free rural localities were also analysed. The mean cadmium concentration in milk from industry free rural localities was 0.004+-0.001 mu-g/ml. The mean cadmium concentrations within 0-2.0 km vicinity of textile, petrochemical and metallurgical industries were 0.008+-0.001, 0.012+-0.003 and 0.008+-0.001 mu-g/ml of milk which were significantly higher than the industry free rural localities.
