Circulating level of thyroid hormones during lactation in Surti buffaloes

, : Circulating level of thyroid hormones during lactation in Surti buffaloes. Journal of Bombay Veterinary College 6(1): 47-49

Blood levels of thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4)) were determined during 300 days of lactation in 6 multiparous non-suckled Surti buffaloes. The levels of both hormones were significantly different (P<=0.05) between the months of lactation. Mean level of T3 and T4 in blood ranged from 0.38+or-0.04 to 1.14+or-0.10 micro g/ml and from 1.10+or-0.13 to 2.81+or-0.37 mg% respectively between parturition and 300 days of lactation.
