Isolation and identification of canine adenovirus type-2 from the upper respiratory tract of a dog

, : Isolation and identification of canine adenovirus type-2 from the upper respiratory tract of a dog. New Zealand Veterinary Journal 46(3): 102-105

A case of canine adenovirus type-2 (CAV-2) infection was diagnosed in a Greyhound dog with tracheitis/tonsillitis in New Zealand. Virus isolation was performed with Madin and Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cell monolayers. The virus was identified using haemagglutination inhibition and serum neutralization tests. Viral DNA was extracted from infected MDCK cells and subjected to restriction endonuclease analysis using the endonuclease enzymes BamHI, BglII, EcoRI and HindIII.
