Methane emission from Swedish mires - in relation to different spatial and temporal scales

, : Methane emission from Swedish mires - in relation to different spatial and temporal scales. Acta Universitatis Agriculturae Sueciae Silvestria ( 111): 19 + papers I-IV pp.

A national inventory programme with 619 sites was used to estimate the total flux of methane from Swedish mires. Methane flux and dynamics were also evaluated in a boreal Sphagnum-dominated mixed mire, Stor-Amyran, in northern Sweden. Measurements of the soil temperature and groundwater table were concurrently taken at each sampling point. The potential for methane oxidation, and pore-water concentrations of methane were also measured in the same plant communities at Stor-Amyran.
