Physiological and biochemical features of growing cucumber in breeding for heterosis

, : Physiological and biochemical features of growing cucumber in breeding for heterosis. Ovoshchevodstvo ( 9): 49-54

Contents of phytin (Ph) and inorganic phosphate (IP) were determined in dormant seeds of cucumber F1 hybrids and their parental lines and studied in relation to yield components. Ph content varied from 470.1 to 820.2 micro g/seed. The genetic variation in IP was wider (2.4-6.5 micro g/seed). Lines with low GCA for yield had low Ph and IP contents but a fairly high Ph/IP ratio.
