Rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems through watershed management - a success story

, : Rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems through watershed management - a success story. Indian Journal of Soil Conservation 25(2): 162-166

A watershed (1095 ha) was treated during 1983-84 to demonstrate the efficient management of soil and water resources for rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems of SW Haryana, India. Regular monitoring of changes in the watershed indicated that number of wells, sprinkler sets and irrigated area increased from 42 to 171, 1 to 164 and 125 to 741 ha, respectively during 11 years.
