Temperate silvoarable agroforestry with quality hardwood timber species

, : Temperate silvoarable agroforestry with quality hardwood timber species. Agroforestry Forum 8(3): 9-11

Data are reported from an ongoing project started in September 1987 in northern England consisting of a silvoarable system (with arable and forestry controls) in which crop alleys are 14 m wide and contain a 12 m wide crop strip subtended by trees in rows in a 2 m wide uncultivated strip. The trees (ash cherry sycamore and walnut are 4 m apart in the rows, and 2 m apart in a square planting (in the forestry control plots).
