Afforestation in Ukraine - potential and restrictions

, : Afforestation in Ukraine - potential and restrictions. EFI Proceedings ( 35): 195-211

Afforestation in the Ukraine has a long history and a rich tradition. This paper discusses the achievements and failures of afforestation programmes in former years and the current status of forestry, including both afforestation experiences and regional peculiarities. During the last few decades there has been a radical reduction in the creation of new forests. The afforestation of agricultural and marginal land offers a good chance for diminishing the environmental problems of rural areas.
