Challenges in China: export opportunities, domestic obligations

, : Challenges in China: export opportunities, domestic obligations. Feed International 21(3): 6, 8, 10

This article discusses the growth and commercialization of animal and feed production in China and questions how the country will strike a balance between export opportunities and obligations to the domestic market. Beginning in the 1980s, China's feed and animal industries embarked on a fast, steep climb towards modern scale and quality of production. They dramatically increased domestic meat supplies and exports, until overtaken by the Asia region's economic crisis during 1997/98.
