Comparative production of tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon (Fabricius) and white shrimp P. indicus (Milne Edward) in rectangular cemented raceway tanks and earthern ponds on the Arabian gulf

, : Comparative production of tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon (Fabricius) and white shrimp P. indicus (Milne Edward) in rectangular cemented raceway tanks and earthern ponds on the Arabian gulf. Arab Gulf Journal of Scientific Research 18(1): 54-62

The present comparative study was conducted at Behar's Farm at Ras Alzawr, on the Saudi Arabian Gulf coast using two production facilities; a pair of rectangular cemented raceway tanks, and a pair of circular earthen ponds. The results reveal the possibility of obtaining two tiger shrimp crops per year (each of 4.5 tons/ha) from two culture periods (April-July and August-November), in comparison to one crop of 4.3 tons/ha by culturing from (April-Nov.) in a raceway tank.
