Efficacy of Artemisia extract on the hair perforating activity of Microsporum nanum and Trichophyton rubrum

, : Efficacy of Artemisia extract on the hair perforating activity of Microsporum nanum and Trichophyton rubrum. Flora and Fauna Jhansi 3(2): 123-124

A. annua was tested by Ajello and George's procedure for activity on the hair-perforating activities of Microsporum nanum and Trichophyton rubrum. Bioassays with human hair indicated that the test fungi failed to perforate the hair to the extent observed in the control. Exogenous addition of plant extract in the yeast extract medium influenced the keratinolytic enzymes of the test fungi and as a result of this, hair-perforating activities were inhibited.
