Mechanisms of resistance in rice, Oryza sativa L. against the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens Stal. (Homoptera: Delphacidae)

, : Mechanisms of resistance in rice, Oryza sativa L. against the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens Stal. (Homoptera: Delphacidae). Madras Agricultural Journal 2001; 87(7/9): 434-438

The levels of resistance mechanism in rice (O. sativa) to brown planthopper (N. lugens), such as antixenosis (host preference) and antibiosis, were studied in certain resistant cultivars (Ansphal, TC 20/A, Sonasali, Nagurjuna, Chandan, IR72, Ptb 33 and TN1) under laboratory conditions. The levels of resistance were found to be varying in different resistance parameter in the tested cultivars.
